Library Use Policy

General Rules and Regulations

In order to maintain a safe and welcoming environment for reading, learning and other Library activities, the CSEBRU Seminar Library requires all students to comply with the following General Rules and Regulations.  

Conduct within the Library:

  • Keep quiet. Readers are requested to handle all Library property carefully to avoid damage to it and also not to disturb other readers/users.
  • Library furniture, fittings or equipment must not be misused or their arrangement altered.
  • Noise, disturbance or inappropriate behaviour is prohibited, including abusive or threateningbehaviour to Librarian and other Library users.
  • Any damage or defacement of Library materials is strictly prohibited and users found damaging material will be subject to disciplinary procedures (see Enforcement below). Library users are asked to report any instances of such defacement to Library attendant.
  • No Library material can be taken out of the Library without permission of the Librarian.
  • Readers should not mark, underline, write, or tear pages or otherwise damage the library documents.
  • Users should not bring in large numbers of bags as these can make it difficult for other users to access study spaces.
  • Some items in the Library cannot be copied because of copyright laws, or donor restriction.
  • Library attendants are empowered to stop any activity in the Library which they consider prejudicial to the safety, well-being, or security of readers or Library staff or to the preservation of the collections.
  • Suggestions on all aspects of library services are welcome.

Conduct within the Cyber Library:

  • Cyber Library and its contents are to be used for academic purposes only.
  • Online Chatting in the Cyber Library is not allowed.
  • Browsing of dating, social networking sites is strictly prohibited. Strict disciplinary action will be taken against the defaulters.
  • Changing the settings and display of the Computers kept in the Cyber Library is not permitted.
  • Students are not allowed to carry eatables and drinks in the entire Library premises.
  • Students must carry their Student ID card while using the Cyber Library. They must show their ID card on demand.
  • Playing games on computers is strictly prohibited in the entire Library premises.
  • Students must take care of their Pen drives, CD/DVD ROMs, Cell Phones, and Wallets etc.
  • Threatening others via library computer network is illegal.
  • Listening to musics or movies on Video sharing sites (i.e.YouTube) are strictly prohibited.


  • Anyone who violates the rules and regulations of the Library may be debarred from using the Library facilities or other punishments due for breach of norms of public order and decency.
